Materia Prima

We are a small manufacturer of jewelry, located in Freiburg in Breisgau since 1999.
We mainly design and produce individual items.
Since participating in the Paris Salon „Premiere Classe“, we have started to develop and distribute small-scale series. This ties in with our belief that a sustainable economy is possible. That is why we have been using accredited fair trade gold and silver since 2004. All items are produced in our studio and all our suppliers are located in Germany.

During the 18th century, many goldsmiths working as alchemists tried to discover the „Philosopher's Stone“ and solve the mystery of transforming common metals like lead into precious metals such as gold or silver. While experimenting, Johann Friedrich Böttger and Ehrenfried Walther von Tschirnhaus stumbled on the formula for the first European porcelain. Exactly 300 years ago, in 1710, the first porcelain factory was founded in Meissen, Germany and “white gold” triumphed in the royal courts of Europe!

Porcelain and precious metals – a bonding which also plays an important part in the history of jewelry. During the Classical Age and German Biedermeier for example, painted and framed lockets of porcelain were worn. Unfortunately, these kinds of ornaments have almost sunk into oblivion over the last centuries. But we rediscovered these old connections and transformed them into a new and contemporary style.
